Dr. Winakur has been in private practice as a licensed psychologist in the Bellaire area for several years. A native of San Antonio, she attended Rice University for undergraduate studies. She received her PhD in counseling psychology from the University of Miami, completed her pre-doctoral internship at Harvard University, and her post-doctoral fellowship in the VA system. She enjoys working with a diverse clientele in terms of age, cultural background, and presenting problems.
Dr. Winakur supervises advanced doctoral-level students from the University of Houston who provide reduced-fee psychotherapy and psychological testing in her office. She meets with these students regularly and frequently to provide oversight of clinical, ethical, and administrative issues. Dr. Winakur completed a post-doctoral fellowship in supervision and training. She highly values contributing to the education of aspiring psychologists.
Jacob is a second-year PhD student in Counseling psychology at the University of Houston. He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology and M.A. in Academic Research in Social Psychology from California Polytechnic University, Humboldt. He grew up in a small town in the foothills of central California and has enjoyed the change of pace since moving to Houston for his PhD program. Jacob has previously worked with adults but is interested in working with young adults as well. He has experience working with substance use, anxiety, depression, stress, and interpersonal concerns. He has worked with clients from varying cultural backgrounds and is particularly interested in personality assessment and intervention work with the LGBTQ+ community and men/young men/boys. He makes a commitment to be culturally humble and provide a safe and inclusive space for the cultivation of mental health.
Caitlin, our administrative assistant, is a sophomore at Rice University studying Psychology and Sociology. She plans to pursue a master's degree in social work to advocate for minority and low-income children and families through the nonprofit and clinical sectors. She is originally from Arlington, Texas, and has significant experience working with children as a family ministries summer intern at her home church, a camp counselor, and a day camp leader at Project Transformation.
